TO: Naturists and other concerned citizens
Dear Naturist,
On June 10, the Naturist Action Committee called you to action against the planned termination of skinny-dipping
and nude sunbathing at traditional locations within a California State Park unit on the American River near Auburn, CA. Your response has been tremendous!
Superintendent Jay Galloway of the Auburn State Recreation Area
had declared that input from naturists would be ignored in the development of a new Management Plan for the Auburn SRA. Your thoughtful and effective letters to Superintendent Galloway and two others California Parks officials
identified by NAC make the point that naturists will NOT be ignored.
NAC asked naturists to attend a public workshop staged by California Parks on Thursday to address the development of the Plan. At the event last night,
naturists made up 20 of the 60 members of the public in attendance. Led by NAC board member Allen Baylis and consisting of members of the River Dippers and others, naturists were an impressive presence at the meeting. When the
workshop divided into discussion groups, naturists were able to be an influence in each group.
NAC thanks you! You are to be commended for your response.
WHAT IS NAC DOING NOW?
The Naturist Action Committee is working with local naturists and is continuing its dialog
with California Parks officials. This is a long term process. The initial letter writing campaign and workshop appearance were both essential, and both were done well, but there is more work to be accomplished.
WHAT IS NAC ASKING YOU TO DO?
This is an Update. It does not call for specific new
action. However, if you haven't already done so, it is still appropriate for you to express your concerns in letters to selected California Parks officials. For details, consult the NAC Action Alert issued on June 10, 2006. The
