SUBJECT: NAC Seattle Swims TO: Naturists and others who enjoy skinny-dipping
Dear Naturist,
An important focus of the Naturist Action Committee (NAC) is working proactively with local
activists to expand clothing-optional opportunities. One of NAC's present projects is a series of nude swims at public pools in Seattle, Washington.
NAC SEATTLE SWIMS
In close cooperation with the Seattle-based Body Freedom Collaborative, The Naturist Action
Committee is happy to announce the "NAC Seattle Swims": a new series of evening nude swims in Seattle, Washington.
Many naturist groups have organized swimming events in private health clubs and other private
facilities. A much smaller number have been able to use public facilities. NAC is particularly excited to sponsor this series of events and initiate the nude use of two fine indoor public swimming pools that are run and
operated by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Seattle. The NAC Seattle Swims will further the existing good relations between NAC, local skinny-dippers, and the City of Seattle. The nude swims will
also serve as fundraisers for NAC, to assist it in its ongoing work of advancing and defending opportunities for responsible clothes-free recreation at private sites and on select public lands.
The swims will also be a whole lot of fun. A FEW DETAILS
NAC
board member Mark Storey and BFC co-director Daniel Johnson are organizing the swims. They selected the pools on the basis of the facilities' ease of access, the pools' amenities, and neighborhood safety. Helene Madison Pool in
northwestern Seattle has two pools: one is of 3.5 feet deep; the larger pool ranges from 6 to 12.5 feet deep, and offers both low and high diving boards.
Ballard Pool is located in the Ballard District of Seattle, and
boasts a large pool (3-12 feet deep) featuring a tube slide and rope swing. A large hot tub sits next to the pool.
All swims are on the second Saturday of the month, and go from 8:00-10:00 PM. People may arrive 15
minutes early to undress in the men's and women's changing rooms (each containing coin-operated lockers). Swimmers need to bring their own towels and any personal swim gear.
Swim organizers plan to schedule games for
kids, and more athletic competitions for adults. The Naturist Society will provide prizes for some of these events at each of the six swims.

MORE INFORMATION
Admittance to the NAC Seattle Swims
The City of Seattle rents its swimming facilities for private use, so NAC agreed that those enjoying the NAC Seattle Swims would be associated with NAC. For the purpose of these swims, that means anyone who is currently a
member in good standing of The Naturist Society, the American Association for Nude Recreation, The SLUGS, or the Wreck Beach Preservation Society. Organizers of the NAC Seattle Swims also wish to make a special invitation to
those who have participated in local naked cycling events or the local Burning Man community. People from any of these latter groups should contact Daniel Johnson for information on taking part in the NAC Seattle Swims at aquaman at seattlebeaches dot org.
To gain admission into any of the NAC Seattle Swims, individuals need to arrive with their TNS, AANR, SLUGS, or WBPS membership card, or confer with Johnson to be recognized as an active naked participant of the Seattle-area
events noted above. They will then purchase a participation card for the NAC Seattle Swims for $5. Children and teens under 18 years of age will be admitted (free of charge) only when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
The NAC Seattle Swims participant card (along with a photo ID) will allow access to any of the 2006/07 NAC Seattle Swims. Each swim costs an additional $10 per person. Thus if you were to go to all six swims, it would cost $5
for the swim card and $60 for all six swims. If you go to one swim, it would cost $5 for the swim card and $10 for one swim. Please keep in mind that this is a fundraiser for NAC. One hundred percent of the proceeds, after
expenses, goes to NAC. Cash or personal checks made out to "Naturist Action Committee" will be accepted at the door. Organizers will not be able to process credit card payments for the swims.
If someone arrives and is not a member of any of the groups above, or does not have any group membership card on hand, to enjoy the swim he or she will have the option of joining TNS or of purchasing a one-year update to an
existing TNS membership. Payment for such membership can be made with cash, personal checks made out to "The Naturist Society," or a credit card number.
All participants over 18 are expected to participate naked in the pool area when practical; those under 18 may choose for themselves. No one under 18 will be allowed into the pool area without his or her parent or legal guardian.
Common Sense Restrictions
As requested by the City, swim organizers will cover the windows looking into the pool so that the swims will be private. That said, the NAC Seattle Swims are events at which behavior at all times throughout the facilities will
be appropriate for young and old. Participants and Parks staff will be promoting and preserving a family-friendly, non-sexualized atmosphere.
Photography and videography of the swims will be strictly regulated by the organizers. Photography will be allowed only on pre-approval of the organizers, and no one will ever be photographed without his or her explicit and
informed permission. In short, do not bring cameras to the swims.
Please pass word of the NAC Seattle Swims to fellow naturists, nudists, and other skinny-dipping enthusiasts.
