SUBJECT: Assateague Island beach cleanup
TO: All Naturists and other concerned citizens
Dear Naturist,
The Naturist Action Committee (NAC) encourages you to participate in the
upcoming cleanup of a portion of Assateague Island in Maryland. The cleanup is being sponsored by the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) and its regional affiliate, AANR-East, in conjunction with Friends of
Assateague State Park. The event is scheduled for this coming Saturday, April 22.
NAC IS NOT A SPONSOR
The Naturist Action Committee declined an offer to become an official cosponsor of the cleanup. NAC's participation as a partner in the beach cleanup would inevitably be seen as tacit
approval of AANR's legislative lobbying campaign in Maryland, an approach that NAC sees, in this specific instance, to be counterproductive.
Nevertheless, NAC strongly supports participation by naturists in beach
cleanups and other positive civic actions to improve the environment, establish good relations with park managers, and promote the image of naturists as responsible citizens. NAC specifically commends the cleanup at Assateague
and urges naturists to participate.
